Police Nabs 7  Suspected Kidnappers,  Recovers Arms, Ammunition In Kaduna

*Heavy  deployment of Police personnel  made to  nooks,  crannies of  state ahead Sallah celebration


In a renewed vigour to ensuring safety of lives and properties in Kaduna State, owing to the recent marching order handed down by the acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Mamman B. Giwa  to Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to go on the offensive, personnel of the Command have recorded a positive result with the arrest of suspected kidnappers.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Jalige, made available to journalists in Kaduna yesterday.

“At about 1320hrs, a patrol team attached to Saminaka Area Command in conjunction with hunters group in Lere LGA  apprehended one Yusuf Idi ‘M’ aged 25yrs along with six (6) others at Mariri Village in Lere LGA.

“Upon Interrogation, the suspects confessed to have carried out series of kidnappings, culpable homicide and armed robberies in the said area,” it said.

According to the statement, when an immediate search was conducted on the suspects, an AK 47 Rifle with 14 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition, one locally fabricated long range double-barrel gun used for expending 12-guage live cartridges and  one locally made pistol that uses .9mm live ammunition were recovered.

“Preliminary investigation is ongoing and efforts been intensified to recover more arms and ammunition.

“Meanwhile, the general area is presently calm and peaceful, while rigorous patrols and surveillance continues,” it said.

It informed that DCP Mamman B. Giwa while commending the Officers and men for the arrest and recoveries, warned that any person with the thought of committing any form of crime should have a rethink or risk being neutralized or arrested by the well motivated operatives of the Command.

He used the medium to assure all law abiding citizens in the state to go about their lawful businesses, as a heavy deployment of Police personnel have been made to all nooks and crannies of the state ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebration.
