Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Unveils Quranic Research Centre In Commemoration Of Kwankwaso’s 67th Birthday

As part of engagements lined up for the celebration of Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s 67th birthday, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has today unveil a Quranic recitation and research centre named Majidadi Institute for Qur’anic Research and Advancement (MIQRA) dedicated to his father, late Alhaji Musa Sale Kwankwaso at Kwankwaso’s residence in Miller road Kano.

Speaking at the event, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf appreciated Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of making better plans for the future saying that the centre was put in place when it is much needed looking at the large number of Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools in the state that need to be integrated into conventional Schools systems to tackle the problems of almajiris roaming the streets.

Alhaji Abba Kabir added that Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso achieved alot during his administration in the area of developing islamic religion citing examples of fencing cemeteries in Kano metropolis, renovation of Jumuat mosques across the state and setting up of islamic Schools in 44 local governments and lamented the abondement of completion of some of the Schools by the immediate past administration.

According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, His Excellency the Governor, promised to complete the abandoned schools and to direct the state ministry of education for commencement of admission and kickstart of academic activities.

In his address, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso said MIQRA was established to train memorisers of the Holy Qur’an, men and women for intensive training to qualify them for primary and secondary schools certificates to pave way for them to advance to colleges and universities for higher certificates.

He affirmed his readiness to do all what it takes for the centre to operate efficiently in order to give chance to its students to explore their potentialities for their benefit and the society at large.

He applauded the commitment of the state Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for initiating policies and programs that have direct impact to the lives of people of the state especially the downtrodden.

A crop of scholars from within and outside the state pour encomiums on Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso for making the noble initiave that would serve as one of the strategy to manage the problem of almajiris bedevilling many states in the northern part of the country.

The State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Ismail Jibril Falgore, Commissioners and other top government functionaries were among the diginitaries that witnessed the memorable occasion.
