The Associate Administrator of Christ the King Catholic Cathedral (CKCC), Sabon Gari Zaria, Rev Fr. Kelvin Makama has charged African men to garnish and sustain their marriages with words and acts of love. He made this call at the Mass for the blessing of marriage between Mr. Gerald Ohanuka and Ms. Comfort Dashe which took place in the cathedral on Saturday, 23rd April, 2022.

Remarking that some marriages crash on the altar of rigidity, Fr. Makama proffered some ways to ameliorate the situation. His words, “some men only remember ‘I love you’ only on their wedding day. African men, ‘make una dey romantic a little.’ Words are powerful and sometimes, you can buy her chocolate or ice cream.

Tell her ‘I love you sometimes.’  Telling your wife ‘sorry’ does not make you less a man. It makes you more of a man. The same thing goes with women. Words are powerful. Words can sustain a marriage the same way they can destroy marriages. Remember this date as your anniversary. Prepare and serve her food before she wakes up on your anniversaries before she wakes up.”

He prayed that their commitments to each other last a lifetime charging them to continue to take care of their children in mutuality.
