Rwanda Hails BAL’s Positive Influence of Basketball Development

*Rivers Hoopers, AS Douanes,  US Monastir Qualify for Playoffs in Kigali

Rwanda, foundational partner of Basketball Africa League (BAL) from the inaugural season has hailed the impact of the competition in developing basketball in the country.
Candy Basomingera, Deputy CEO, Rwanda Convention Bureau made the statement at a press conference on the last day of the BAL Sahara Conference in Dakar, Senegal.
She said the East African country is pleased with the impact of partnering with BAL since inception which has resulted in making Rwanda a sports hub in Africa.
“We have recorded many positive gains in partnering with BAL including the development of basketball in Rwanda, increased private investments in sports infrastructure and gradual recognition of the country as sports hub in Africa,” Basomingera noted.
Kigali, Rwanda’s capital will be hosting the playoffs and finals of the BAL season 4 from 24th May to June 1st this year.
Meanwhile, on the court of play, Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, US Monastir of Tunisia and AS Douanes of Senegal qualified for the playoffs from the Sahara Conference.
The playoffs and finals at the Bank of Kigali arena will feature 8 teams icluding Al Ahly SC (Egypt) and Al Ahly Ly (Libya) from the Nile Conference. FUS Rabat (Morocco), Petro de Luanda (Angola) and Cape Town Tigers (South Africa) from the Kalahari Conference. Rivers Hoopers (Nigeria), US Monastir (Tunisia) and AS Douanes (Senegal) from the Sahara Conference.
