Impressed by the performance of Team Kaduna so far at the ongoing National Para Games 2023, Commissioner of Sports, Development, Professor Ben Gugong on Sunday, visited his state’s athletes at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
During the visit, he revealed plans of the Governor Uba Sani-led Kaduna State Government to float a scholarship scheme for budding athletes, with a view to spurring them to perform better.
He explained that the scholarship scheme will be targetred at those who make the state proud at national and international outings, to ensure they develop themselves in sports and academically.
Professor Gugong praised the athletes who have so far, won medals for the state at the 2023 Para Games, assuring them that their efforts would not go in vain.
He explained that Governor Uba Sani who is a sports lover, is committed to ensuring that their welfare is adequately catered for.
Some of the athletes who were in contact with him, were excited and promised to win more laurels for the state.
Professor Gugong was accompanied on the visit by the SA Sports to Governor Uba Sani, Sa’id Dibis, as well as the Kaduna State Sports Writers of Association (SWAN) Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi.
