Youth have been urged to engage in constructively with government, in ensuring service delivery and open governance partnership to translate to development of their respective communities.
Team Lead, Partnership To Engage, Reform, Learn (PERL), Kaduna State, Mr. Abel Adejor gave the charge in his welcome address at the opening of a two-day session in Zaria, organised by #OpenGov Youth Innovation Hub with support from PERL, on Friday December 1, 2023.
“What are the values that you intend to add to your respective communities. You must think of an area to engage constructively to impact your community.
“We can’t bring the entire Kaduna here but with representatives here, you can take message back to your respective communities,” he said.
Mr. Abel Adejor said he is excited to bring the youth together.
He said PERL is a project that has worked all over Nigeria for seven years.
“We have supported Open Government Partnership (OGP) in Kaduna, which made the state the first sub national that signed on to OGP.
“PERL has supported a lot of accountability mechanisms, to ensure citizens needs are met.
“We have also supported citizens to go and engage the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which has influenced the budget of Kaduna State Government. We work deeply with Kaduna State University and other tertiary institutions in the state, to build mentorship,” he said.
According to him, during last electioneering campaign, PERL engaged governorship candidates, including the present governor and influenced his manifesto.
“I want to welcome all of you, feel free and ask questions, OGP has got five thematic areas, take interest in one to engage,” he advised.
In his goodwill message, Bello Hayatu, SA Students Matters to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani said that he will remain committed to bringing development to students of Kaduna State.
