The Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON, has felicitated former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Rtd, on the occasion of his 89th birthday yesterday, October 19, 2023.
Governor Inuwa described General Gowon as an iconic figure in Nigeria’s history, who played a significant role in unifying the country and shaping the nation’s destiny with his visionary leadership when he served as Head of State.
In a statement signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, he noted the commitment of the former Head of State to peace building, noting that Gowon remains a shining example of a true patriot and elder statesman whose life is worthy of emulation.
“General Gowon’s sustaining efforts in promoting harmony, fostering cohesion among Nigerians through his National Prayer Movement initiative and other endeavors continue to inspire understanding, good neighborliness and a high degree of unity and patriotism among the diverse people of the country. His dedication to the spiritual and moral wellbeing of the nation is higly inspiring”.
