As the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), gets set to commence sitting on Monday, Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party in Kaduna State in the general elections, Honourable Jonathan Asake has insisted that Peter Obi and his running mate, Dattti Baba Ahmed were overwhelmingly voted by Nigerians
Asake expressed this in his remarks at a meeting of LP in Kaduna on Saturday May 6, 2023.
“Nigerians overwhelmingly elected Peter Obi, Datti Ahmed but where never announced.
“That group that continue to parade themselves as factional chairman of party are out to tear the party apart,’ he said.
Accirding to him, “Just yesterday, one of them was on Arise TV and he accused Obi and Datti of working for PDP and they plan to deal with them by expulsion. Are we going to sit and watch what we have worked for taken over!?
“We learnt they are appointing new chairmen for states and even local government areas. We have to let them know that labour party is not an orphan,” he said.
According to Asake, “We loyalists to the party must keep it alive, let’s not give them a chance to ruin the party.
“Can we allow that to happen? Let us not be intimidated. Let us work until our mandate’ is reclaimed,” he charged.
He was optimistic that the reclaiming of the mandate of the LP, is the way out, not just for the party, but Nigeria.
“What is not, will not stand the test of time,” he declared.
