Kaduna Grounded For Grand Dinner In Honour Of Samuel Atung’s SAN Status

All roads leading to highbrow Barnawa in Kaduna metropolis was grounded with heavy vehicular movement as friends, family, associates, colleagues and we’ll wishers converged on the Epitome Event Centre for the Grand Dinner in honour of Barrister Samuel Atung on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The event held on Friday December 17, featured speeches from several eminent personalities, including the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Kaduna Governor’s office, Barrister Kanyip.

Others that extolled the virtues of the latest SAN in Kaduna, were friends, family members and representatives of the Moro’a Development Association.

The colourful dinner was flavoured with musical interlude.

CITATION OF THE CELEBRANT

Samuel Atung was born on the 23rd day of November 1968 in the present day Kaduna South
to the family of Laraba/Atung
Polytechnic Road) in the year 1974.

He was later transferred to Yerima ‘D’ Primary School Dutsin-Ma
He started his academic journey at St. Augustine Primary School, Tudun Wada, Kaduna (now LEA
in the present day Katsina State where he concluded his Primary education in the year 1980.

He gained admission into Government College, Kaduna in the year 1980 and later transferred to
Government Secondary School Kafanchan where he completed his Secondary education in the year
1985.

The thirst for knowledge took his to the defunct College of Advanced Studies (C.A.S) Zaria between
1985-1987 where obtained the IJ.M.B Certificate which qualified him for University admission.

He gained admission into the faculty of Law Ahmadu Bello University in the year 1987 and
graduated in the year 1990 with an LLB (HONS) Degree.

In pursuit of Professional Legal Education, the young Samuel Atung was at the Nigerian Law School
Victoria Island in the between 1990-1991 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in the year 1992.

He answered the clarion call of service to the mother land and was accordingly deployed to Benue
State in the year 1991 for the compulsory N.Y.S.C Scheme and did his Primary assignment with the Nigeria Legal Aid Council and this no doubt ignited his interest and passion for Litigation.

Upon passing out from the NYSC Scheme, he had a brief stint with the Law Firm of Charles Mafua and Co. of Imam House, Kaduna.

He later joined the law firm of L.M. Jemala & Co, Kafanchan between 1992-1995.

What can be best described as a watershed and epochal event in his Professional Career occurred in the year 1996 when he joined the Law Firm of Messrs. Emmanuel Toro & Co. where his passion and interest in Litigation was rekindled and perfected under the mentorship of the Legendary Emmanuel Toro, SAN who imparted in him the time honoured virtues at the Bar of
decorum, integrity and diligence in the Practice of Law.

He was Head of Chambers of Emmanuel Toro and Company between the year 2005-2018.

He was Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Chat Micro Finance Bank between 1995 – 1989.

He is a community spirited individual, and in this regard he was Chairman Moro’a nation of Kaura
Local Government, Kaduna State cultural day planning committee for two consecutive years 2014 –
2016.

He is an astute Barman whose activism within the Nigeria Bar Association did not go unnoticed as he was elected Secretary Nigeria Bar Association, Kaduna Branch between 2009 – 2011, Chairman
Nigeria Bar Association Kaduna Branch between 2011 – 2013 and N.E.C Representative 2017 – 2019. In recognition of his impeccable and selfless service to the Bar he has been appointed to serve in different capacity both at

Apart from the dexterity of his exploits in the field of law, Samuel Atung is an avid believer in the
family.

He is married to his loving and caring wife, Barr, Mrs. Dorcas Atung and their union is blessed
with five emotionally stable children.
