The Senator representing Bauchi North, Adamu Muhammed Bulkachuwa has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the transition of the 2022 appropriation bill to the Senate.
Senator Bulkachuwa while fielding questions from Journalists on Thursday 7, October 2021 said that President Buhari has promised that all the projects especially the railways which his administration has undertaken would be completed before 2023.
He added that since the President made the pledge in the full glare of the media as well the law makers during the presentation of the appropriation bill in the Senate he was optimistic it would come to pass.
Senator Bulkachuwa added that all the senators would be given a copy of the budget proposal and they would make inputs before the budget proposal would be ratified by the Senators.
While answering questions from journalist, the Bauchi born Law maker explained that the Senate in 2018, decided to shift the financial year from middle of the year to January of every year so that the Executive arm of the government will have ample time to execute and implement the projects in the budgets. He assured that the appropriation bill will be passed in record time so that the Executive would commence work.
Allaying fears that after President Buhari leaves office, most of the developmental projects he initiated especially in the North would be abandoned by the incoming administration, Bulkachuwa said that the President has also pledged that such projects would be difficult to abandon because his administration would take the projects to near completion stages where it would be difficult for succeeding Government to abandon.
The lawmaker who also spoke on the Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project, explained that “On ascension to power, President Buhari in conjunction with the law makers engaged consultants, and feasibility studies were carried out. Huge expanse of lands were acquired.
He further explained,
“We also appropriated monies for the project, however, the Minister of Power who hailed from Taraba handed the monies to Governor Ishaku Darius and since then, nothing was heard again.
However, the President has since waded into the case of the Mambila power project.
