Online Job/Millions across the globe have lost their jobs from the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic till date.
The Covid-19 crisis will push global unemployment over the 200 million mark in 2022, based on the International Labour Organization estimate in June 2021.
The World Bank said in June that many emerging markets and developing economies will continue to struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath.
In Nigeria, Gross Domestic Product contracted by 1.92 per cent in 2020, while unemployment grew 33.3 per cent in 2021 which translates to over 23 million jobless people.
In a recent speech, President Muhammadu Buhari said the government cannot close Nigeria’s unemployment gap.
The unemployment quagmire is also the same for many other economies, experts have said.
But the presence of online jobs may reduce the rate of unemployment for Nigerians and other developing and emerging economies.
American free-lancing platforms like Upwork.com, have provided thousands of skilled Nigerians among other nationals the opportunity to work from the comfort of their homes.
The platform has over 18 million freelancers and three million jobs worth $1bn are posted annually on the platform.
The platform has about 12 skills available for skilled freelancers.
WEB DESIGNING/Graphics Design
Web designing and graphics designing opportunities for skilled persons are available on different free-lancing platforms.
Graphic Design is the use of graphics, typography, graphs, and images to communicate an idea on both print projects and digital projects, while Web Design is the creation of graphics, typography, graphs, and images to communicate an idea.
But Web Design has to do with websites and not print.
On Upwork.com, a Nigerian developer based in Lagos, Godwin , charges $20 per hour on the platform and has made $100,000 (N49.8m) from 26 jobs.YouTuberA Youtuber is an entertainer who produces videos on video-sharing website, YouTube.
Video creators get money from adverts that pop up on their channels or brand sponsorship.
For instance, tech Youtubers will partner with phone brands to review their products and get commission for sales made.
A Nigerian Youtuber, Fisayo Fosudo, earns thousands of dollars yearly from creating content on Youtube.
E-Commerce
Another way of earning from the comfort of your home is through electronic commerce. This involves buying and selling of goods or services over the internet.
People who venture into it must find a product to sell on their online store. The online store is a website or application through which goods or services are sold over the internet.

BLOGGING/AFFILIATE MARKETING
Many Nigerians have either become rich from blogging and affiliate marketing or have improved their income from the skill.
With affiliate marketing, a blogger promotes a company’s products or services using a special link that identifies the affiliate’s (blogger) blog as the source of the traffic.
The blogger promotes the products and earns commission from every purchase made. To earn from such adverts, the blogger must have a unique, trackable affiliate link obtained from an agreement between the blogger and the business.
