Nabasu Lauds President Buhari For Numerous Achiements in Gas sector

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Petroleum Abuja, Bitrus Bako Nabasu has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring the next ten years as the decade for gas.

Mr. Nabasu who was speaking at the sidelines of the Nigerian International Petroleum Summit, NIPS added that though, oil is the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy but as the country and rest of the world gradually shifts towards renewable energy, gas is seen as the natural bridge between renewable and clean energy. He therefore praised the President for his foresight in focussing more on gas.

Speaking further on the importance of gas, the seasoned technocrat explained that gas can be used for domestic cooking, it can generate electricity and it is also used to power vehicles.
Nabasu also added that gas is in the category of what is termed as clean energy.

On the gas pipelines between constructed from Port Harcourt to Ajaokuta, the permanent secretary described the initial benefits as provision of employment opportunities for thousands of youths who are gainfully employed via the construction of the pipelines. He also enumerated infrastructural development as another benefit to host areas through the pipelines are sited.
He added that, gas products would be readily available and cheap prices when the project finally comes to fruition.
