In a commendable move to uplift women across Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched an empowerment programme for 1,028 women across 44 local government areas of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, which was made available to journalists Monday morning.
The initiative aims to empower women economically and foster self-reliance, aligning with the spirit of International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on March 8.
While launching the programme at Government House, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the financial support was specifically designed to enable women to stand on their own feet.
“We want our women to thrive economically and be self reliant.
“By providing this grant, we encourage them to invest wisely and contribute to their families and communities.” he said.
The governor assured that the programme would be a regular occurrence.
“Every month, we will continue to extend our support to the women of Kano,” he affirmed.
As the women receive their grants, Kano takes a step towards gender equality and economic empowerment.
