Northern Group under the aegis of Coalition for Peace and Progress on Saturday stormed the secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna state council, insisting that the Vice President of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) must be a christian.
The Coalition, in company of over 70 supporters including men and women unanimously nominated the former Speaker of Federal House of Represented Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as the most suitable Christian person.
In a speech delivered, the coalition’s national coordinator, Dr. Muhaamad Chindo said the future vice president must be a christian who transcend primordial sentiment bothering on religion and the twins evils of tribalism and sectionalism.
The coalition further stated that considering the diverse nature of Nigeria, and need to ensured a sense of fairness and belonging its most appropriate that the person to be picked as presidential running mate must be someone who has the required qualities and political experienced.
According to the coalition, such person must also be a good christian who coild promote the cause of unity and togetherness among the diverse and heterogeneous citizens of our great country.
They added that after a thorough and painstakingly search, in furtherance of their avowed commitment and dedication to the noble cause of ensuring a united Nigeria, the coalition unanimously concluded that Rt. Hon. Dogara is the best person most suited for the position of further VP of APC.
According to them the choice of Dogara as the most suited was born out of five reasons as we lelected and speaker for pass for years until he voluntarily step down, as a grass root politician who’s tested and trusted, bridge builder in confidence of constituency of DASS/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro of diverse people. Built mosques for Muslims more than church among others.
