..Says Norway, UNDP supports Commission to establish CEWERS

The Josiah ldowu-Fearon-led Kaduna State Peace Commission said It’s working towards ending violent conflicts that continue to take place in parts of some local government areas in southern parts of kaduna State.
His Grace, Most Rev. Idowu-Fearon who is the Chairman of the state Peace Commission,
disclosed this Tuesday during a media briefing on the activities of the Commission and state of peaceful coexistence in kaduna State held at the commission office in Kaduna.
He also disclosed that the government of Norway and United States development programme, UNDP,. have supported the Commission to established an lCT- based conflict early warning and early response system, CEWERS, with state of the art facilities that will provide platform for citizens to communicate and reports incidences and threat to peace.
He said despite consistent efforts being made by Nasir El-Rufai led leadership towards peace building, and investing heavily in human capital and infrastructural development for effective service delivery, incident of violent conflicts have continued in parts of the state, especially in Zangon Kataf, kuara, Kauru and Jemaa LGs.
The chairman said the Commission has over the years engaged in dialogue with every bodies and listen to all parties and groups, and above all responded to their concerns, worries, fears and needs of the citizens in the state, in pursuit of the peace.
According to him, the Commission is also active participants in the ongoing global to end violence against women, appealing to their citizens to speak out and take appropriate actions to end domestic and other forms of violence against the girl child and women.
While he expressed uptimism that success would soon be recorded in the affected LGs, Rev. ldowu-Fearon was delighted that ongoing mediation efforts in Fantsuan in Jemaa LG, Chawai, in. Kauru, and Afan Takad in Kaura LGs are already recording tremendous success.
He also said initiatives in Zangon Kataf are being strengthened to bring an end to the ongoing conflicts.
Rev. Idowu-Fearon however noted that criminal activities including kidnapping persons for ransom, armed rubbery, rustling of cattle and raiding of villages for various motives have posed tremendous challenges, adding that even they incidences are criminal in nature, they’ve strained inter-community relations especially in parts of Birnin Gawri,lgabi Giwa, Chikun, kajuru, Zangon Kataf, Jemaa LGs among others arising out of profiling and stereotyping of one group or the other, urging people in the state to work with security agencies in reversing the trends of criminal activities.
The media briefing was also attended by all the members of the Commission and other relevant bodies
