The Zamfara State Auditor General, Alhaji Abubakar Danmaliki Gidangoga, has presented copies of the State Audit Reports to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Civil Society organisations (CSOs).
Presenting the copies to Zamfara State NUJ Chairman, Ibrahim Musa Maizare and representative of CSOs, Dr Ahmad Hashim, Gidangoga said the presentation is part of the accountability and good governance of Gov Dauda Lawal’s administration.
He described the media and CSOs as major partners in ensuring accountability and good governance.
“I am glad to welcome you all to this maiden interaction between my office, the Media and CSOs to which is the first of its kind in the history of this office.
“This will enable me to interact with you, and inform you the progress recorded by this office and also make copies of the report available to you.
According to to him, “As required by Section 125(5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, this office, upon receipt of financial statements and accompanying schedules from the Accountant General, is to submit a report within 90 days of its receipt to the state assembly” the State Auditor General Explained
“The Auditor General further said that Zamfara State Audit Law 2021, Section 40(1), also made similar provisions to achieve transferency and good governance.
“Today, I am presenting state annual audit report to the NUJ and CSOs, this is part of Gov Dauda Lawal’s administration to ensure accountability and transparency.
“I therefore want to use this opportunity to register my appreciation to the governor for his kind support to the activities of this office
“I appreciate the support of Media and CSOs to this office which led to the tremendous success recorded by this office.
“I thank you for supporting public accountability and good governance”, Gidangoga explained.
