Following the recent attack on Plateau State Correctional center, the Senate has called for the reinforcement of physical protection structures and the establishment of special correctional centers for high profile criminals in the country.

This followed a motion of urgent importance under senate order 42 and 43 sponsored by senator Istifanus Gyang from Plateau State on the recent killings in Tagbe and other parts of the state at the senate plenary in Abuja.

Sen. Gyang expressed concern at the ease with which the attackers invaded the correctional center despite the presence security formations around the center noting that the 9 inmates were killed in the attack while 252 inmates escaped out of which 56 were condemned criminals.

The motion receieved an overwhelming support from all the lawmakers who contributed and the senate thereafter resolved to mandate its committee on interior to investigate and bring a report on the status of the centers across the country with a view to ensuring such incidence dose not reoccur.

The senate thereafter observed a minute silence for those who lost their lives
