The Catholic Church has banned the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka from speaking against partisan politics in a move believed by many to be orchestrated by the Nigerian Government.

The ban was contained in a letter to Mbaka issued by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Callistus Onaga.

In the letter dated June 3, Bishop Onaga also reduced the influence of the spiritual director by converting the Adoration Ministry to ‘chaplaincy’.

He noted that while Mbaka still leads the chaplaincy, he can appoint any ministerial officer “to assist the chaplains to oversee the pastoral activities of the ministry.”
