Professors and professionals who are parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been reminded of their duties as the think-tanks of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria. The bishop of the diocese, Most Rev Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh was on his first pastoral visit to the parish, Sunday, May 4, 2025, when he took the stand, expressing his intention to work with them for the growth of the diocese.
He also charged the parishioners to study and research about the Church, in order to deepen their knowledge on Catholicism, considering the fact, that the parish is located within such an institution.
“Professors wake up to your responsibilities, especially for the sake of the Church.” The bishop told them, “We have the professors here. We have the brains here. We have the manpower here in this Church. This Church is supposed to be the think-tank of the diocese of Zaria – that is the brain of Zaria diocese. When we want to talk about anything that has to do with research, knowledge, education, we have to come here. I know we have the capacity here.”
“I will like us to work together in Zaria diocese. I will like Zaria diocese to be a place where people come to learn, because we have what it takes. I will look for you. I will come after you, positively, not negatively. So, all the professionals, I am coming. In case somebody is hiding, wherever you are, we will smoke you out.”
Bishop Daboh told them that he has a responsibility to look after them as their chief shepherd. he also disclosed that everyone has their responsibilities too, because, “Nobody is exempted from responsibility. You are a shepherd of someone somewhere.”
