The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, celebrated a significant milestone on May 19, 2025, with the commissioning of its newly renovated Senior Officers Mess, Gym House, and the state-of-the-art Office Complex of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA).
Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, graced the occasion, underscoring his commitment to the welfare of officers and the progress of the service.
Speaking at the event, Customs Area Controller Seme Area Command, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, highlighted the Command’s achievements, including remarkable revenue generation and anti-smuggling efforts.
“From January to April 2025, the Command generated N2.83 billion, processed over 184,000 metric tonnes of export goods valued at N36 billion, and made significant seizures with a Duty Paid Value of over N800 million.
“The Comptroller General’s visionary leadership and emphasis on officers’ welfare and operational excellence were commended, and the new facilities were hailed as a testament to the Service’s dedication to modernization and transformation,” he said.
He described the commissioning ceremony as a platform for the Nigeria Customs Service to reaffirm its commitment to excellence, integrity, and discipline, and to further enhance its service delivery.
