The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Borno State Chapter, has taken a remarkable step in supporting abandoned women in the state.

As part of the activities marking the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism, NAWOJ Borno State organized an event at the NUJ Maiduguri conference center. The event featured NAWOJ women and two identified abandoned women, who were presented with cash donations to support them in their challenging situations.

The Chairperson of NAWOJ, Borno State, Hajiya Fatima Mustapha Zannah, represented by the secretary, Elizabeth Ameh, emphasized the importance of empowering vulnerable women and making them feel recognized and valued.

NAWOJ urged the women to speak up when in need and not feel isolated due to their circumstances.

Former Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hajiya Amina Fida, advised the women to work hard, raise their children well, and not put the blame of their father’s absence on them.

Other members shared their real-life experiences, encouraging the women to maintain good attitudes and behavior, despite their challenging circumstances.
