The Sokoto Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated assorted relief materials to the victims of the 2024 flood disaster in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The Head of the Sokoto NEMA, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, expressed this in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday.
Kafindangi said the items worth millions of Naira, that compromised food and non food items as well as building materials were approved by the Federal Government for the 2024 flood victims from the three states.
“Members of the House of Representatives of the affected areas received the relief items for their constituents.
“Some lawmakers sent their representatives to receive the materials on their behalf.
“The lawmakers, who received the items included Garba Umar-Uba, representing Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency in Kebbi and Sani Alhaji Yakubu, representing Gudu/Tangaza Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.”
According to Kafindangi, the lawmakers who sent their representatives included Mansur Musa, representing Aliero/Gwandu/Jega Federal Constituency in Kebbi.
Similarly, Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi, representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara was also represented.
He said, “Others were Ahmad Sani Muhammad, representing Bakura/Maradun in Zamfara and Usman Bashiru Gorau, representing Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency in Sokoto State,” he explained.
Kafindangi said that NEMA staffers were fully involved in the distribution of the relief items to the affected communities.
