Fr. Mamman clocks 70; retires from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria

Former Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Very Rev Fr. Prof. Joseph Haruna Mamman clocked seventy years of age on August 15, 2024. He has also retired from the services of the University.

At the Mass of Thanksgiving held at Our Lady’s Parish on Friday, October 4, 2024, the homilist and the Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan, Most Rev. Dr. Julius Yakubu Kundi spoke of the celebrant as an exemplary priest-chaplain who attended to the needs of the faith community with compassion, dedication, and passion. He thanked him for prioritizing his pastoral duties over academic pursuits, calling on his successors and other priests who work outside parish to shepherd their flock as Fr. Mamman did.

Full of gratitude to God for allowing his mother witness his seventieth birthday anniversary, Fr. Mamman also thanked everyone who has been part of his life for creating an enabling environment for him to soar. He also thanked the authority of the University for refining him.

The Mass was attended by five bishops, the homilist; Most Rev Drs. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, Kaduna; Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh, Zaria; John Niyiring, Kano; and Gerald Musa, Kastina; over one hundred priests from different dioceses; as well as people from different walks of life, Christian denominations and faiths.
