The traditional ruler of Ndigbo in Zaria, Igwe V.I Unogu (KSM, JP) has conferred the Chieftaincy title, ‘Chief Enyi Oha’ on the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kasuan Mata Divisional Police Headquarter, Sabon Gari, Zaria, SP Ibrahim Zubairu, while his wife was given the title, ‘Lolo. SP Zubairu was one the nine recipients of the honour given as part of the activities marking the 2024 New Yam Festival celebration of Ndigbo in Zaria and its environs, Sunday, 22nd September, 2024.
Reacting to the recognition at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Pastoral Centre, Graceland Zaria, venue of the Iwa Ji, the honoree who received trustworthiness at the Palace of Igwe Unogu before proceeding to the Centre disclosed how delighted he was to be so acknowledged by the ethic group.
“Honestly, I am short of words.” He expressed. “I will not forget this day. Igbo has made me very proud. They really make feel like a son because since I have been in Zaria, I have never heard it interesting like this. I sincerely want to say, ‘Thank you.’ I sincerely want to appreciate the Igbo Community not only in Zaria, but also down Southeast.”
“With this, I know I can travel to any part of the Southeast and I will be received there as a son. I say thank you. I wish my Igwe and his Lolo long life, sound health and God’s protection. To my fellow Igbo Community, I want to thank you for this wonderful recognition, on behalf of myself and Lolo here, and the Nigeria Police, we say thank you.”
Both well dressed for the occasion, Chief Enyi Oha and his Lolo were led to the venue by Igbo Youth Dance Group, accompanied by their many friends and well-wishers who came to share in his joy. They were also given a certificate of Chieftaincy title by Ezeigbo Igbo of Zazzau.
