*Places Gombe on 14th position on medals table

Munyal Gombe State came with just one athlete Munyal Kwairanga Simone, who has won three gold medals in Gymnastics at the just concluded National Youth Games (NYG).
Simone who is just 12 years old in an interview with our correspondent, expressed happiness over the feat.
Her mother, Finda Simone who accompanied her to the NYG, said that it is a thing of joy that Munyal broke the jinx that something can come out from the North in gymnastics.
She explained that this is Munyal’s third year of attending the NYG.
“She started from home, then she will be somersaulting and jumping on chairs and that’s how she started.
“The first time she came and represented Gombe but nothing came out of it. The next time we came with another State, she won a silver and we realized she wasn’t registered and was disqualified.
” Before we came for this, when they did gymnastics competition in Bauchi, she won four gold medals.
“We thank the people of Gombe State, they gave us a million Naira, they gave us accomodations and flight tickets to Asaba,” she said.
