The Nigeria Muslim League Group (NIMUL) has expressed strong opposition to the rumours going round of the appointment of Daniel Bwala as spokesman for President Bola Tinubu.

According to Professor Mika’il Jibrin, spokesman for NIMUL, while President Tinubu has the right to appoint anyone, the group strongly kicks against Bwala’s appointment.

Bwala, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been critical of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s Muslim/Muslim ticket before the 2023 presidential election.

“NIMUL cannot trust Bwala in a position where he would be privy to critical issues that could make or mar Nigeria as a country,” the group said.

The group cited the example of Ajuri Ngelale, who faced challenges for defending Tinubu’s government, and questions how someone who has championed a campaign of calumny can be brought into such a sensitive position.

“President Tinubu should understand that Nigerian Muslims appreciate respect and trust from the Presidency, and therefore, NIMUL advises the President to look for other individuals worthy of trust.

“Bwala is seen as an opportunist trying to destroy what he did not build, and NIMUL urges the President to choose a person with proven integrity,” the statement said.

“The group prays that President Tinubu will reconsider this appointment and choose someone who has not engaged in issues that could create tension and political crisis.

“NIMUL believes that this appointment could undermine the unity and political cohesion of the country, and therefore, urges caution.

“The group reiterates its commitment to the peace and tranquility of Nigeria and advises the President to prioritize these values in his appointments.

“NIMUL calls on all Nigerians to join them in rejecting this appointment and urging President Tinubu to make a more informed decision.

“NIMUL remains committed to the well-being and progress of Nigeria and will continue to speak out against decisions that could harm the country, ” the group said
