Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir has commissioned the multi-million Naira Dambatta international Cattle Market upgraded through a collaboration between Kano State Government and the Islamic Development Bank’s funded Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP).
This was made known in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Saturday in Kano.
The statement quoted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf saying that the Dambatta Cattle Market is one out of five other upgraded markets which include, Tsanyawa, Falgore, Doguwa and Wudil cattle markets respectively.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf said in each of the five markets, the state government has provided loading ramps, water facilities, office accommodation for market information, security posts, veterinary services infrastructure, public conveniences as well as lighting for safety to trade even in dark hours.
He said the initiative aims to modernize livestock value chain, especially in the areas of transport logistics to reduce mortality and improve healthy environment.
The governor added that livestock trade has been a predominant business in Kano State, there by supporting livelihoods of millions of people which in return reduces poverty and support the economic activities around the overal agricultural value chain.
Responding on behalf of Danbatta community, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Publicity Hon. Jamilu Abubakar Danbatta, said the community would forever be grateful to the governor for his efforts to promote economic priority of the the area.
