The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) has presented Federal Government’s relief assistance of food and non food items to the Kebbi State Government and House of Representatives members for the victims of 2024 flood disaster across six federal constituencies in Kebbi State.
The Director General of the agency, Mrs Zubaida Umar presented the items to the State Government and representatives from the beneficiaries’ constituencies in Birnin Kebbi.
The DG represented by the Head of NEMA Sokoto Operation Office, Mr Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi said the intervention was in response to a request by the house of reps members from the state to the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar and assessment of flood incident conducted by NEMA and Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The gesture is aimed at providing succour to communities affected by the disaster.
The affected local government areas for the intervention, include: Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Suru, Bagudo, Maiyama, Koko-Besse, Jega, Argungu, Arewa, Dandi, Augie, Aliero, Gwandu across the six federal constituencies in the state.
She added that the relief items comprises of food items such as; Rice, Beans, Maize, Vegetable oil, Seasoning cube, Spaghetti, Tomato paste, Iodized salt, while the Non-food items such include Mosquito nets, Blanket and Nylon mats.
The relief material is expected to be distributed to the beneficiaries through direct distribution to mitigate the impact of the Disaster on the victims.
The distribution exercise was led by the Head of Sokoto Operations Office, NEMA Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, alongside Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Hon Bello Relisco and representatives of Hon members of the Six Federal Constituencies.
