A former House of Representatives member and Kwara APC Chairman, Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa has lauded President Bola Tinubu administration commitment to ensure food security in the country.
Bolarinwa gave this commendation on Thursday, while speaking at Kwara South Unity Summit held at ODU Hall Offa.
He said President Tinubu needs to ensure Nigerians go back to farm by providing necessary support for actualization of his Renewed Hope Agenda in food security.
His words: “The President should ensure everybody go back to farm. Government needs to provide adequate security to enhance productivity of farmers across the country. Professionals also need to embrace farming, may be doing home farming. This will have positive impact on Nigeria’s GDP.
“As a member of Tinubu Political family, we must work together to help the President succeed. Nigerians have been yearning for Progressive Leader at the national level and believe we must support the President to deliver by improving well being of Nigerians and develop the nation.
“Federal government also need to provide enabling environment for local industries to grow and resuscitate moribund ones. I am sure this would increase our GDP, create employment and boost the economy.
The immediate past Chairman of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) while speaking on local government administration aligned with the President’s vision to ensure effective administration at the grassroots.
Bolarinwa noted that some State Governors are not giving local government leaders opportunity to generate and manage their revenue.
According to him, local government has three main sources of revenue: FAAC disbursement, 10 percent of State Internally Generated Revenue and other revenue lines being generated directly.
The former Lawmaker observed that the state government is encroaching on local government right by establishing signage to collect advertisement rate and others.
He said having effective local government administration would fast track grassroots development.
Speaking on Kwara South Unity Summit, Bolarinwa said the summit is coming at the right time, saying ‘We need to work together to develop Kwara South irrespective of our political affiliations. The development of our region must be a collective efforts. We must think collaboration not competition’.
