The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Sunday rolled drums to celebrate with Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a message through the association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, noted that the significance of Eid al-Adha is such that love, sacrifice and selflessness remain crucial in the day-to-day living.

He said, “Eid Mubarak! May this special day bring you joy, peace, and prosperity. May Allah’s blessings be upon you and your loved ones.

“For us as sporting media professionals, we should always strive to work in unity in the pursuit of a common course in line with ethical values which Prophet Ibrahim stands for, as also exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“Again, the message of Eid al-Adha is to remind ourselves about the commandment of God to show love to one another and uphold peaceful interpersonal relationships in oneness as SWAN under our watch will continue to set the pace.

“Despite many challenges that we encounter while carrying out our professional responsibilities, we must never fail to put our trust in God and, more importantly, extend compassion and safety to the vulnerable people around us.

“What this means is that as we go about celebrating today, we must ensure that we extend good tidings of support and charity to one another, especially those in difficulties.”

The number one Sports Writer in Nigeria also felicitated with the teeming Practitioners, particularly Men on the Father’s Day celebration.

“Fathers as Pillars of homes and by extension the society deserve to be remembered and celebrated on this day and always,” he said.

June 16 is designated every year as Father’s Day globally.
