The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Borno Chapter Most Reverend Dr. John Bogna Bakeni has urged Christian faithfuls to desist from things that will contradict the celebration of Christmas.
Dr. Bakeni who is also the Auxillary Bishop of Maiduguri stated this in the Christmas message made available to the media in the state, on behalf of the CAN executives.
He admonished Christians in this Holy season, to embrace peace and love and eschew any tendencies that will foil their celebration which is against the essence of the christmas celebration.
The message further states that despite the facts that “this year’s Christmas is celebrated amidst difficult and harsh economic realities, insecurity and palpable fear of the unknown, believers should not lose the essence and true meaning of this Solemn feast because of the blessings attached.”
The message also noted that the blessings and graces of Christmas supersede the temporal problems and economic realities being faced by the people.
CAN further obliged believers to communicate and extend the love of Christmas to all during this festive season regardless of their religious, ethnic or social status.
