Frontline group in Northern Nigeria, Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) has described former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike as an emerging threat to Nigeria’s democracy, who needs to be tamed before he sets the entire country on fire.
AYF expressed this in a statement dated Monday October 30, 2023, signed by its National President, Ahmad Mohammed Zagi, made available to newsmen in Kaduna.
“We are deeply worried over the impunity with which the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is acting. It is a sad development which needs to be urgently tackled.
*When Nigerians were yet to get over how he is running the activities of the FCT administration like a private enterprise with dictatorial tendencies, we woke up to the political crisis engulfing his home state Rivers, leading to the torching of the state assembly complex.
“We are worried that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain took his  hatred for the North, exhibited in his eight-year tenure in Rivers, to the nation’s capital, a sad development for the unity of our country, ” the group said.
They therefore, demanded his immediate sack by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure sanity in the polity.
AYF commended Rivers State Governor, Similayi Fubara fir the maturity with which he has handled the political crisis in his state so far.
“We are perplexed that someone that supported then Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode to do away with godfatherism in 2018 is now trying to lord it over his successor. Does he want to be FCT Minister and behind the scenes Rivers governor at the sane time?” They queried.
The group advised the Rivers Assembly to avoid being misled by an “Emperor” to create instability in their state, urging them to drop the purported impeachment against Governor Fubara.
