Knighthood a support system for Church and the society –    (Prof) Stephen Oluigbo KSM

The Grand Knight of the Knights of St Mulumba, Bro (Prof) Stephen Oluigbo defined the Catholic Knighthood as a strong supporter of the Church when members of the body ended their novena to their Patron Saint, St Mulumba during a Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria on Sunday, 4th June 2023 where he also expressed desire to recruit and welcome practicing and dedicated Catholic couples who are willing to abide by their guiding principles of supporting and defending the Church.

“The most important thing is that we are willing to make the little effort to support the Church.” He explained. “We look out for Catholic couples who attend the Church, bring up their children according to Catholic faith. It is just an extension of what you have been doing to promote and support the faith. We mourn with our members. We felicitate and rejoice with our members just like any other society.

Qualification to first to fourth degrees in the Knights of St. Mulumba is based on period of membership, commitment to dues and financial responsibilities and written examinations about the Church and the Knighthood. So when we call you, this is to support the Church.”

In a bid to keep sustain the body, “Youths of St Mulumba has already taken off in many Sub-Councils and in Kaduna Metropolitan Council (area). Samaru Subcouncil is still working on it.” The grand knight revealed to stadtdaily.news.  

Aside supporting and defending the Church, the group engages in community services such as visits to the sick, orphanages, medical outreaches and distribution of medicines to less privileged communities as well as organizing pro life events.
