A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) under the auspices of Eye Opener Women and Youth Foundation has lamented the adverse effect of drug abuse on youths.
The President of the Organisation, Mrs Margaret Kwaada Julius during an interview with Journalists yesterday in Kaduna said that it may be difficult to eradicate the drug abuse but the menace could be reduced to a little percentage of no significance.
According to her, the organization is applying evidence based advocacy to curb the spread of drug and substance abuse in the State.
Julius urged government at all level to give listening ear to evidence base professionals on how to help the youth out of the mess of drug abuse, she said.
“Evidence based knowledge on Drug Prevention, Treatment and Recovery is a must for all likeminded laborers”.
She therefore advised parents to show love and good upbringing to their children, saying that most youths who engaged in drugs were already frustrated from home.
She urged youths to shun social vices and peer groups who can easily lure into taking drugs.
