The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the 2023 General elections, Honourable Cafra Caino has lamented   that insecurity delaying construction of two dams in Kajuru, aimed at boosting irrigation farming.

He made this known while speaking at a one-day Agenda Setting Dialogue With Candidates for Federal and State Legislative Constituencies organised by Partnership for Issues-based Campaign in Nigeria (PICaN) in collaboration with Legal Awareness for Nigeria Women (LANW) has on Wednesday December 14 in Kaduna,

“Already, His Excellency, Governor el-Rufai has signed the contract for one of the bridges, the other was to be constructed by me when I was the LGA Chairman,” he said.

According to him, being an agrarian community, it is important for peace to thrive for majority to earn their livelihood.

“As long as the communities and farmers are not secured, agriculture cannot thrive,” he said.

Cafra was optimistic that his nine points agenda would lead to the transformation of Chikun/Kajuru if he emerges their Reps member.

“I have nine points agenda and it starts with security. Because North West is the most insecure region in Nigeria today. Kaduna is feeling the heat and in Kaduna, Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kajuru and Giwa worst hit.

“We need to push for local vigilantes and they should be allowed to carry arms. Not heavy arms, light arms. If you send soldiers to Maro in Kajuru LGA for instance, it’s a forest terrain, they may not be able to understand it so they need to be guided by local vigilantes,” he said.

According to him, other agendas include health,  sports, education amongst others.

“One of the biggest things I want to go and do at the National Assembly is to change Nigeria by making citizens more patriotic. LG is number one tier for getting things right in Nigeria. All the things they are doing at the top, does it really get down to the local government areas?

“As such, we will push for development of LGAs. Once we develop LGAs, youth would stop migrating to cities,” he said.
