No fewer than 70 participants are currently taking part in a three-day workshop organised by Dinidari Foundation in collaboration with the UN Women, which is among other objectives, targeted at getting more participation of women in politics.
In a remark at the opening of the workshop at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna on Wednesday December 14, 2022, Communications Associate of Dinidari, Clara Jack explained that it is a follow up to the validation of the 35 per cent affirmation for political offices held a fortnight ago, ahead of the 2023 elections.
According to her, the Dinidari Foundation Africa Women Political Empowerment Project gathered women at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel Kaduna on Tuesday November 29, 2022, with a resolve at ensuring that the 35 per cent affirmation for political offices is actualised.
Hence, the objectives of the workshop include showing the women the importance of party legislations.
“We are also looking at ensuring that women play prominent roles in the heirarchy in politics.
The workshop is also targetted at demystifying the concept of godfatherism.
“Also, it would groom women on how to be the right people for politics, as well.as ensuring prominent roles in party structures.
“We are believing that at the end of the workshop, participants would have eliminated fear of contesting for elective positions within the parties and at general elections,” she said.
Speaking further, Clara said that their objective is also to encourage women to start early participation in politics as well as getting more participation for women in political space.
Our correspondent who was at the opening ceremony, observed that participants for the workshop were drawn from all the 23 local government areas of the state.
