The President of Catholic Women Organization (CWO), of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Dr. (Mrs.) Rose Illah has called on her members to live up to their responsibilities as mothers. She made this call in the parish on Mothering Sunday, 24th April 2022.
Dr. Illah reminded them of their positions as the hearts of their families interpreting that the way they go about their duties affects their families, the Church and the society at large.

“The heart has no bone.” The president explained. “It is flesh all through and that is what we are mothers. But in that flesh that we are from our hearts, we are something else. God put a very strong bone in us to be able to tolerate ourselves and others. No matter what we are, no matter the teachers we are. No matter the ministers we are and the professors we are, we are still mothers. Your role as a mother in the home must remain special. That is the only way you can be identified as a mother.”

“You are doing so much and as a woman. When you are hungry, sometimes you do not remember that you have not eaten because the family has not eaten. And when your husband has not eaten, you have not actually eaten, even if you have eaten a bowl of food. But then, some of us need to sit up to our responsibilities at home, in our offices and wherever we find ourselves. Mother Mary is our icon and if you go through her Litany, you will know that we are trying to emulate her. We may not be all that she is but we can do something if we are united.”
She thanked the celebrant, Rev Fr. Patrick Bako Zichiyang for being honest with them and reminded them that their knees are their arrows hence the need to always pray for their families.
