…Fr. Tanko was ordained by the Pope

The Catholic Chaplain of Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Samaru Zaria and the immediate past Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, (ABU), Very Rev (Prof) Peter Bauna Tanko has clocked forty years in the Catholic priesthood. 

At both Masses of Sunday, 20th February, 2022 during which he marked his anniversary, his successor, Rev Fr Sebastine K. Vincent thanked God for the gift Fr Tanko has being to the Church and to humanity; He also acknowledged  the celebrant for positive influence on him and prayed that God continues to strengthen him.

Holy Mass Celebration

“Today, we celebrate our Very Rev Fr Prof Peter B. Tanko,” Fr Vincent oriented. “I rejoice because I see an ideal priest when I see you. What I am giving here is testimonial because I worked with Fr Tanko here in 2014. A priest is a saint, a scholar and a gentleman and I see all of these in you, Fr.”

Speaking on behalf of the parish, the Vice Chairman of the Parish Council, Prof. Andrew Attah Illah expressed that they cannot thank God enough for Fr. Prof. Tanko and for the wonderful contributions he made in the parish. The Parish Secrtary, Mrs Stella Okolocha noted that the way the priest celebrates the Mass, especially in Latin proves that he was indeed ordained by the Pope.

The Prof of Ecumenism and lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria was ordained at Papal Altar Media Centre Kaduna on 14th February 1982 by Pope John Paul II alongside many others.   

Chief Celebrant Cuts Cake

It was a moment of celebration indeed when the parish and well wishers rejoiced with Fr especially as the parish supported him in kind and in cash and in cutting his anniversary cake which was donated by Ms Blessing AAruya.
