Niger govt arrests mastermind kidnapper of UniAbuja Professors, other members

The Security agencies in collaboration with Niger State Government have revealed that Mohammed Ahmadu, whose house was demolished in Minna,on Friday night was part of the gunmen that attacked the University of Abuja during the week and whisked away two professors and others members of the family.

The State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Emmanuel Umar Bagna,on Saturday, made the disclosure in a joint press briefing at the state police headquarters in Minna. said, the suspect have confessed his heinous crime been the brain behind abduction of two UNIABUJA professors and their family members which led to the arrest of other members his of syndicate and also the rescued of the victims.

He stated that the suspect also admitted in participating in five major kidnapping incidents across Nigeria and that bought the demolished house with the proceeds of his crime.

Bagna further explained that, the suspect are currently been interrogated in the police custody, in providing useful information.

The commissioner attributed the success recorded through the collaborative efforts of security agencies, while commending their efforts.

However, he reiterated the government commitment to to the protection of lives and property of the people by riding the state out of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

While calling on the people to be vigilant and report every suspicious moves or persons around their communities. noted that information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
